SENIOR Citizens week is about the recognition of their contribution to nation building,
This was highlighted by the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa in an interview with this newspaper during the launch of the senior citizens week held at the Holiday Inn, in Suva today.
Mrs Vuniwaqa said the government was very appreciative and very much aware of the contributions they have made towards helping our country move forward.
“This is just a little way of giving back to them of course we have got programs all planned out for them the whole week,” Mrs Vuniwaqa said.
With the global theme on Celebrating Older Human Rights Champions the event gathered many retirees to the opening event today.
