Weather watch | Take note of tide levels and be cautious of rising water levels: NDMO

The Fiji National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) is advising members of the public are to note the high tide and low tide levels and be cautious of rising water levels.

This after a flash flood alert remains in force for flood prone areas, small stream, and low-lying areas of central eastern division from Navua to Qauia, Rewa and Korovou River, Labasa and Qawa River, low lying and flood prone areas of Wailevu West Coast, Savusavu, coastal Vaturova to Korolau, coastal Saqani, Natewa Bay and nearby areas.

An active trough of low pressure with the associated cloud and rain is expected to affect the northern and eastern parts of the country till later tonight.

The outlook for Wednesday, expect occasional showers, heavy at times and isolated thunderstorms over the eastern parts of Viti Levu (Serua-Namosi-Navua-Suva-Nausori-Naitasiri-Tailevu-Rakiraki), southern Viti Levu (Sigatoka-Korolevu), Kadavu, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Southern Bua and Cakaudrove provinces.

The NDMO is urging the public to also avoid unnecessary travel and to stay away and refrain from attempting to cross or swim in flooded areas.
