Rainy weather conditions will cease over the coming days but the chilly temperatures will remain.

According to the Fiji Meteorological Service (FMS), night temperatures could possibly drop to 19 degrees Celsius in coastal areas and 16 degrees Celsius in the interior of Viti Levu.

The weather office revealed that the cold temperatures were caused by cool southerly winds.

Meanwhile, the forecasters explained that the risk of an anticipated coastal inundation event was now low because of the decay of strong winds with moderate swells.

The weather office also cancelled a heavy rain alert in force for all land areas for Yasawa, Mamanuca Group, Western Viti Levu, Bua Province and Macuata Province, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

In addition, a strong wind warning in force for the land areas of Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Rakiraki, Sigatoka to Korolevu, coastal Serua to Namosi, Taveuni to Qamea and nearby smaller islands, Bua Province, Eastern Macuata Province, Cakaudrove Province, Cikobia, Qelelevu, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, Lau Group and Lomaiviti Group has been cancelled.

A strong wind warning previously in force for all Fiji waters was also cancelled.
