A heavy rain warning is now in force for northern Viti Levu (Tavua through Rakiraki to Dobuilevu), western Viti Levu (Lomawai to Nadi through Lautoka to Ba), the western interior of Viti Levu (interior of Ba and Nadroga- Navosa), and Yasawa and Mamanuca group.

The Fiji Meteorological Service has attributed this to a trough of low pressure with associated clouds and rain that lies slow moving over the Fiji group.

Fiji Met says another trough of low pressure to the West of Fiji is expected to gradually move towards the group and join with the existing trough thus enhancing rainfall over the country from later tonight.

Meanwhile, a heavy rain alert remains in force for western Vanua Levu (Bua, Nasau, Lekutu, Batiri, Dreketi, Seaqaqa), northwestern Vanua Levu (Labasa, Nadogo, Dogotuki), southern Viti Levu (greater Sigatoka and Korolevu area), Kadavu, and Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
