A heavy rain has been issued for the whole country and a flash flood warning is now in force for all low lying and flood prone areas in Fiji.
The Fiji Meteorological Service (FMS) issued the warnings after an active trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain lies slow moving over Fiji.
FMS acting director Bipen Prakash said the trough is anticipated to produce occasional to periods of rain, heavy at times, and thunderstorms over most parts of the country till later Friday.
Mr Prakash said localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying and flood prone areas.
“There is also chance for river flooding,” he said.
“The associated clouds and rain are expected to bring significant amount of rainfall over the country till later Friday.
“Afternoon or evening thunderstorms which is very common during this time of the year have the potential to produce intense amount of rainfall within few hours.”
