Weather watch: Expect occasional rain and thunderstorms

A trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain lies to the southwest of Fiji and is gradually moving South.

The weather bulletin issued from the national weather forecasting centre in Nadi this afternoon says another trough of low pressure lies slow moving over Vanua Levu and affects parts of the country till later tomorrow.

Meanwhile, a north to northeast wind flow prevails over the country.

The forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group, expect occasional rain and few thunderstorms over Yasawa and Mamanuca group, northern Ba and Ra, greater Ba area, interior Ba and Nadroga/Navosa, Northern Division, Kadavu, Lau and Lomaiviti group.

Rain is also expected to ease to showers later tomorrow.

Elsewhere, expect occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Isolated heavy falls expected over most places, especially in the afternoon or evening.

Localised heavy falls may cause flash flooding of low-lying areas.

Motorists can expect poor driving conditions and low visibility during heavy falls.

Moderate north to northeast winds, fresh at times.

Winds becoming predominantly easterly on Sunday and moderate seas.

The outlook for Sunday, expect some showers and isolated thunderstorms over the greater Suva/Nausori-Tailevu area, interior of Ra, Naitasiri and Serua-Namosi, northern Ra, Cakaudrove province, eastern Taveuni, Kadavu, Lau and Lomaiviti group.

Elsewhere, isolated afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms.
