The Fiji Meteorological Service (FMS) has issued a low pressure warning for parts of the Fiji group.

In a statement, the FMS said tropical depression 11F intensified into a category one system named Tropical Cyclone (TC) Gina at 6am on Wednesday while located just to the east of Vanuatu.

TC Gina was formed outside of the tropical cyclone season.

It said TC Gina posed no direct threat to Fiji, however an associated trough of low pressure was expected to affect the group.
