THE Fiji Rugby Union started its countdown and campaign to the 2015 Rugby World Cup yesterday.
The Vodafone Flying Fijians, which wrapped up its three matches November tour over the weekend, is grouped with hosts England, Wales, Australia and Uruguay in Pool A.
The John McKee-coached side will start its campaign against England on September 18 (299 days away) at Twickenham.
McKee said the team had learnt a lot from the November Test matches in which they lost two matches and won one.
Fiji went down to France 15-40, Wales 13-17 and defeated USA 20-14.
“The little things letting us down are our continuity, our connection and our defence sometimes,” McKee told the BBC.
“But that gets better and better the more time you’re together.”
A statement from FRU said a local joint promotion with DHL, official logistics partner of Rugby World Cup 2015, would shortly roll out the FRU road-map to England 2015.
FRU CEO Radrodro Tabualevu in the statement said “this will include private and public partnership programs plus an exclusive brand and merchandise campaign to rally support for the Vodafone Flying Fijians”.
Meanwhile, the DHL Match Ball Delivery promotion has received an overwhelming response.
The nationwide competition will result in one lucky Fijian child getting the opportunity to deliver the official match ball onto the field of play at the opening match of the tournament.
The prize, which is open to all children between 8-15 years of age, also includes two tickets to the match, a DHL RWC Merchandise Kit, 2 nights’ accommodation and an official photo to keep as a memento. “DHL will host an auction to raise money to pay for flights and expenses for the child and his/her caregiver to travel to England,” the statement said.
