TWO major development projects at Korovatu outside Labasa are on hold because of the lack of a water supply.
The water pipeline only reaches Vunika, leaving areas such as Korovatu without proper connection.
One of the stalled projects is a $5million resort.
Businessman Ma Xian Lin said he had been trying to develop his hotel but kept facing delays.
“My land has no water,” he said.
“I hope the Government can support us to get water pipes there. About 100 families live there but have no water.”
Mr Ma said he tried to drill a borehole last year, but it was too shallow.
“Next week I want to start building, but I still have no water.
“I hope the Government can help.”
Apart from this, he said he also faced an issue with his land title.
“I applied two years ago for the lease but still haven’t got an official title.
“I met the village chief, but someone keeps delaying things. It’s already been two years.”
In response, Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica said he would take the matter up with relevant stakeholders and ministries.
