IT is a must win situation for Waitakere United when the side takes on AS Pirae at the Oceania Football Confederation Champions League at Churchill Park in Lautoka tomorrow.
The two time champions suffered a setback in their campaign after drawing 1-all with a skilful Solomon Warriors outfit on Saturday.
Waitakere United had to rely on a goalkeeping blunder by Silas Seda to gift them the equaliser late in the game.
Waitakere United coach Paul Temple said the goal they set out was to win all three matches which was now unachievable after the draw.
“We are still fighting in the competition,” Temple said.
“We set out to win all three games and we haven’t done that.
“But I don’t think the picture really changes because we have to win the last game anyway.”
Tahitian international Naea Bennett will be the player to look out for in the AS Pirae team.
Bennett hammered four goals against Kiwi FC to become the competition’s top scorer.
He joined the team last Wednesday after missing the first game against the Solomon Warriors.
AS Pirae just needs a draw to qualify for the home and away semi-finals.
