FOR the first time since its inception, the 2025 Flame Tree Waimanu 7s will now be held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Over the years, it has always been played at the Sawani Primary School grounds however naming rights sponsor and quarry and civil engineering services provider Flame Tree Developments (Fiji) Limited helped the meet’s organisers in making the move to the Capital City this year.
The company’s director Glenn Wakeham handed over $44,540 to its organisers last Thursday which also helped in securing the stadium for the tournament.
“In presenting the cheque, Wakeham commended them for their work and relayed how development in the vanua was a rewarding sight for him.
“When I see development in villages, the vanua and the youths, it’s rewarding for me,” Wakeham said.
He also expressed his appreciation for the work carried out by the tournament committee, especially in its plans to stage it at the HFC Bank Stadium.
Tournament director Alipate Navuso revealed the move to Suva was made since it had grown over the years and had reached a different level.
Navuso conveyed his gratitude to Flame Tree for their support in ensuring the move to Suva was made successfully.
The Waimanu 7s will kick off this Friday, ending on Saturday.
