Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) chief strategic and information officer Seymour Singh hopes to rub shoulders with potential bidders at the inaugural Pacific Fiber Conference and Training in Nadi, for a major upgrade project planned for WAF’s ICT infrastructure.

“At the Water Authority, we have an ICT department and we are calling for fresh tenders in terms of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, housing, telecommunication and internet services, telemetry services, plus Microsoft licenses this year,” he said.

Mr Singh said WAF will spend $2million to $3m every year on this.

“Here, we are networking with all the possible bidders, inviting them to bid when the tenders are open.

“So, once they bid and they provide solutions, we will then adopt solutions that the market has provided us.”

Mr Singh said cybersecurity was also a vital component to take into consideration.

“Now we have to expect cyber hurdles. We cannot assume that there will be only cyberattacks.”

Mr Singh added that the conference was also an ideal networking opportunity.
