The Wadigi Salvo rugby 7s team is working to improve its standing on the Fun Flavour Super Sevens Series.

Coach Paul Batina said they needed to maintain their position as one of the top 10 teams in the series.

“Our performance in the first leg of the Super Sevens Series was not to standard because majority of the players were new,” he said.

“It was their first time playing in the series.

“When the first leg was called off, majority of our players were dispersed, they had other commitments to attend to and some had returned to work and moved on, so no one was available to play and we had to bring in fresh players.

“Now that we had brought our players back, our main priority is to play our best and move our standing back to the top.”

He said as always, the training had been tough and since they were pooled with the champions Wardens, they knew the competition would be tough.

“We are pooled with Wardens, LAR Barbarians, Eastern Saints; we’re not underestimating any team.

“The competition will get tougher and as I have said to the players. this game is not for the faint-hearted.”

The second round of the Fun Flavour Super Sevens Series will be held at Prince Charles Park in Nadi this weekend.
