THE performance displayed by former national 7s captain Emosi Vucago at the Fitness First Central Coast Sevens in Wyong, NSW over the weekend could signal his return to the national colours, say, Nadroga head coach Esala Nauga.
Vucago, who was instrumental for Daveta’s win in Australia was named the player of the tournament.
Nauga said the nippy Nadroga halfback had a wealth of experience under his belt and was likely to make a return in the national 7s team soon.
“To be named the best player during the two-day tournament speaks volume of Emosi’s class and experience,” he said.
“He continued from his impressive form left off after the Skipper Cup and HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge to win the best player award in Australia on Sunday.
“He has the experience and the talent needed in the national 7s team and I am hopeful he will deliver the goods if chosen to represent the country.”
Nauga said Vucago could join veteran winger Nasoni Roko and Setefano Cakau in guiding the new players in the national colours should he maintain his form.
Vucago formed a lethal combination with Fiji 7s reps Jerry Tuwai, Savenaca Rawaca and Nadroga flyer Tuiba Batiratu for Daveta during the tournament.
The 31-year-old halfback made his debut for the Fiji 7s team in 2006 was the only player in that team to play all IRB 7s tournaments since his debut in the Wellington 7s tournament
Vucago also represented the Flying Fijians in 2006.
