FIJIAN Warriors captain Sakiusa Vosayaco was awarded the Player of the Match medal after leading his side to a 36-19 victory over Australia Country at Prince Charles Park in Nadi yesterday.
The all-local Warriors showed their class from the start, taking a 12-7 lead into halftime with two tries and one successful conversion. Australia Country managed only a single try and conversion.
In the second half, the Warriors continued their dominant performance, adding another 24 points while the visitors could only respond with 12 points.
Vosayaco thanked the fans for their support.
“It was a good game. Thanks to all the fans who came out to cheer for us.”
Fijian Warriors head coach Cohan Politini praised his team’s effort.
“The boys came together and put on a good display. In the second half, we saw space on the outside, and I told the boys to use it.
“Now, we’re just waiting for confirmation for our next tour.”
Australia Country coach Ben Mowen admitted his side was outplayed in the second half.
“Fijian Warriors played a good game in the second half, and our guys couldn’t stay with them, unfortunately.”
