Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Filimoni Vosarogo, will assume the role of Acting Prime Minister while Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is on an official visit to Japan this week.
Mr Rabuka is travelling at the invitation of the Government of Japan for a high-level bilateral visit aimed at strengthening Fiji’s longstanding partnership with Japan — one grounded in shared values of democracy, peace, and sustainable development.
Mr Rabuka’s visit will include a bilateral meeting with Japan’s newly elected and first female Prime Minister, Ms Takaichi Sanae, where the two leaders will sign the Lomavata–Kizuna Partnership joint communique — a new framework to boost cooperation in climate resilience, economic growth, technology, and people-to-people ties.
The Prime Minister is due to return on 16 November 2025.
Until then, Mr Vosarogo will perform the duties of the Prime Minister to ensure the smooth running of government affairs.
