The Vodafone Rakiraki Carnival 2025 is pressing ahead despite recent wet weather, the Rakiraki Carnival Committee has confirmed.
In a statement, the committee said the event had only been temporarily halted on Day 4, Tuesday, due to heavy rain.
Activities have since resumed at Penang Sangam High School hall.
“The venue at the FSC grounds may be wet, but this has not dampened the spirit of the organisers or the public,” the committee said.
On Wednesday, the carnival’s five queens participated in their Research Topic presentations, Sarong Wear displays, and the first Public Judging at the temporary venue with a limited audience.
Upcoming events, including the Traditionally Inspired Attire presentation, second Public Judging, and Talent presentations, are scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
The committee expressed optimism that the programme would return to the FSC grounds for Talent Night on Friday, followed by the crowning and closing ceremony on Saturday.
“We have exemplified the spirit of resilience to rise above challenges, living and witnessing our theme, ‘Rise Above – Building Strong Minds, Bright Futures,’ this year,” the committee said.
Organisers have been in regular contact with vendors and other stakeholders to communicate the necessary changes.
They also urged the public to follow safety advisories while awaiting clearance from the National Occupational Health and Safety Services.
