EMERGING designer Ledua Daurewa is set to make a powerful return to Fiji Fashion Week 2026, unveiling a collection that explores the unseen beauty of the Pacific after dark.
Titled The Obsidian Lake Collection, his latest work is inspired by the Midnight Reef — a mysterious underwater world where coral formations transform into shadowy silhouettes once the sun sets. Through a striking monochromatic palette, Daurewa reimagines these organic forms into garments that are both structured and fluid, creating a collection that is bold, expressive, and deeply rooted in Pacific identity.
Daurewa describes his journey in fashion as a whirlwind, shaped by both challenges and meaningful milestones. Each experience has contributed to his growth, making his return to the Fiji Fashion Week runway an intentional step forward.
“It’s more than just visibility,” he explains. “It’s about growth — refining my storytelling, elevating my craftsmanship, and presenting my work at a higher level each year.”
Behind the scenes, the journey has demanded discipline. Balancing a full-time job with the demands of design has taught him the value of time management, consistency, and protecting his creative energy. For Daurewa, success lies in building routines and focusing on steady progress rather than waiting for inspiration.
His commitment has already taken him beyond Fiji, with opportunities to visit fashion houses and exhibitions in New Zealand through a Wearing Fiji Program, showcase in Sydney, collaborate with fellow creatives and feature his designs in music videos that have reached millions of viewers.
Looking ahead, Daurewa envisions building a strong, recognisable brand both locally and internationally, expanding into ready-to-wear and eventually opening his own boutique.
His advice to aspiring designers is simple but powerful: start now, stay consistent, and trust your vision — because every small step builds the future.
