Staff of Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) in Lautoka and Rakiraki recently took part in replanting 960 mangrove seedlings and 100 coastal plants in areas affected by pipeline construction on Malake Island in Ra.

WAF said the initiative underscores WAF’s proactive approach to mitigating the environmental impacts of its infrastructure projects.

“By restoring the areas where pipelines were laid, WAF demonstrates its dedication to giving back to the community,” the statement read.

“The replanting effort not only addresses the immediate need for ecosystem restoration, but also sets an example of corporate responsibility in sustainable development.

“With strong support from the Ministry of Forestry, the Department of Environment, and stakeholders, this initiative serves as a reminder of the critical role that responsible environmental stewardship plays in development, ensuring that progress is achieved in harmony with nature.”
