Capitalising on opportunities will once again be a crucial factor when Extra Bula FC faces Tahiti United this afternoon at 5.30 pm at the Santos National Stadium in Port Moresby.
The team showed significant progress in their attacking play during their 1-1 draw against South Melbourne FC earlier this week but failed to convert several chances, preventing them from securing their second win of the season.
Striker Christopher Wasasala, who scored the team’s equaliser against South Melbourne FC, said the team will be seeking redemption against Tahiti United today.
“Really disappointed missing those opportunities, the boys have really put in the hard work,” he said.
“I know we will go back, learn from our mistakes and come back stronger this Sunday (today).”
Following their first match of round two, which also ended in a 1-1 draw against Vanuatu FC, head coach Stephane Auvray emphasised the importance of emotional control as a vital attribute players must develop to succeed in their professional football careers.
This was evident during the team’s missed chances in their last match, as emotions ran high following their newfound attacking breakthrough.
He added that managing emotions is critical to ensuring flawless execution on the field — something the team is closely monitoring.
“The biggest one is emotional management, again our players are learning this; it’s the first time we are in this situation,” he explained.
Despite being lowly ranked in the competition, Auvray is not underestimating Tahiti FC. With the array of talent in his own squad, Bula FC will be bringing their A-game today.
If Bula FC continues their attacking prowess and maintains their focus, fans are in for a thrilling encounter this afternoon.
Bula FC takes on Tahiti United this afternoon at 5.30pm at the Santos National Stadium in Port Moresby in their final match of the second round.
