Visitor arrivals to Fiji declined by 16.5 per cent in January 2026 compared to December 2025, according to provisional figures released by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics.
A total of 70,993 visitors arrived in January, down from 84,995 in December, reflecting the usual post-holiday seasonal slowdown.
Most visitors arrived by air, with 70,560 air arrivals, while 433 arrived by sea, mainly seamen on fishing vessels.
Holiday travel remained the main purpose of visit, accounting for 80.1 per cent of arrivals, followed by visits to friends and relatives at 7.3 per cent, business travel at 1.7 per cent, and other reasons at 10.9 per cent.
Australia continued to lead as Fiji’s largest source market, contributing more than half of all visitors, followed by New Zealand and the United States.
The Bureau said the decline from December reflects seasonal travel patterns rather than a downturn in tourism demand.
