Fiji recorded 85,405 visitor arrivals in May 2026, marking a strong recovery from the previous month, according to provisional figures released by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics.
Arrivals were up 7.1 percent from April 2026, which registered 79,724 visitors.
Of the total arrivals in May, 84,147 visitors arrived by air while 1,258 entered by sea.
Sea arrivals were largely made up of seamen on fishing vessels, accounting for 1,025 arrivals, while 233 visitors arrived by yacht.
Holidaymakers continued to dominate the tourism market, accounting for 81.2 percent of all visitors to Fiji during the month.
Another 6.2 percent visited friends and relatives, 2.6 percent travelled for business purposes, while the remaining 10 percent arrived for other reasons.
Australia remained Fiji’s largest tourism market by a significant margin, contributing 38,893 visitors, or 45.5 percent of total arrivals.
New Zealand was the second-largest source market with 19,565 visitors, representing 22.9 percent of arrivals.
The United States continued to be Fiji’s third-largest market, contributing 10,849 visitors or 12.7 percent of the total.
Other major markets included continental Europe with 2,799 visitors, China with 2,145, Canada with 1,671 and the United Kingdom with 1,046 visitors.
Combined, the seven major source markets accounted for 90.1 percent of all visitor arrivals in May.
