The man who was seen beating a young girl in a viral video had been charged and was produced in court yesterday.
According to the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, the incident happened on Friday, February 2, 2024.
“Police had arrested the suspect and was produced in court yesterday,” Mr Chew said.
“Currently, he is in remand at Korovou Prison. By the time the video was uploaded and viral in FB, the police were already investigating the case,” he said.
The suspect, Ratu Kinijoji Katonivere has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
The 43-year-old is remanded and his case has been mentioned to February 19 for bail application.
