A video circulating on social media showing a man entering an empty Ministry of Health office has been confirmed to be footage from last year.
The clip, recorded at the Labasa Sub-Divisional Office, shows a man entering the office at 2:24pm, shortly after the lunch break, and finding no staff present.
The man repeatedly says “hello” and gestures toward his watch, expressing frustration at the lack of service during what should have been working hours.
The video quickly gained traction on Facebook, amassing over 12,000 views and more than 5,000 shares, triggering public concern and criticism over staff accountability in government offices.
Assistant Health Minister Penioni Ravunawa confirmed the incident occurred in 2024 and said the matter had already been resolved.
“It has been resolved since,” he said, adding that the issue was addressed through supervisory dialogue on performance improvement.
Mr Ravunawa did not elaborate on whether any disciplinary action was taken or if policy changes followed the incident.
