AFTER a thrilling victory in the final at the Yalovata Lomaiviti 7s tournament where they defeated Bureta 17-12, the Axellerate Aflame Brothers rugby team from Sigatoka is now redirecting their focus to the Wairiki 7s tournament taking place next week in Taveuni.
As they aim to end the year on a high note and continue their successful run.
Assisting captain Apisai Naruma attributed the team’s win to the relentless effort and dedication put in by the players.
He commended the boys for their hard work throughout the Yalovata 7s tournament, acknowledging that reaching the final and clinching the victory was no easy feat.
“The boys have put in their hard work, coming to this tournament, we knew it wasn’t an easy task to reach the final and get the win, but I like to thank the boys for their dedication through out the tournament,” said Naruma.
Looking ahead, Naruma stated that the team’s focus now shifts to the upcoming Wairiki 7s in Taveuni.
He expressed the team’s desire to secure another win before the year ends, viewing it as a significant achievement and a meaningful Christmas gift for the team.
“Our focus now will shift to Taveuni, the Wairiki 7s, getting another win before the year ends, will be a big achievement and also a great Christmas gift for the team.
Reflecting on their performance, Naruma highlighted a few areas for improvement, noting that the team was sluggish at times during the tournament.
“We will go back look at our mistakes, we were slow a bit in few of our games, so we will be looking to work on it before heading to Taveuni.”
With preparations underway for the Wairiki 7s scheduled for December 11-13.
