The Fiji Cancer Society will use a newly gifted vehicle to transport patients, conduct cancer screenings and expand outreach services to remote and underserved communities across the country.
The vehicle was contributed by Kontiki Finance, reaffirming the company’s long-standing commitment to community wellbeing and strengthening the cancer society’s ability to support patients facing barriers to care.
The handover marks the sixth vehicle donated by Kontiki Finance since its partnership with the society began in 2018.
The vehicle will support outreach programs, enabling staff and volunteers to travel to rural areas, deliver essential services and ensure patients are not denied care because of distance, transport challenges or financial hardship. It will also assist with early detection programs, counselling and cancer awareness initiatives.
Speaking at the handover, Kontiki Finance Group human resources manager Leeanne Dalton said the partnership has always been guided by the belief that meaningful support goes beyond financial assistance.
By investing in practical solutions, she said Kontiki Finance aims to ease the burden faced by cancer patients and their families.
The society’s chief executive officer, Belinda Chan, thanked Kontiki Finance for its continued support, saying the vehicle would significantly enhance the organisation’s capacity to serve communities nationwide.
She said it would play a vital role in safely transporting patients, expanding outreach activities, conducting cancer screenings and supporting programs in the Western Division, ensuring essential services reach those who need them most.
