Things are not looking too great for the Flick Hygiene Vatuwaqa rugby side as they faced another loss in the Nasinu Rugby club competition.
After round five of competition, Vatuwaqa rugby has three losses and two draws.
The side narrowly went down to Newtown Rugby 19-15 in round five on Saturday at the USP grounds.
There are a lot of issues that the coaching team highlighted after the game as they aired their disappointment for the players failing to turn up to training throughout the week and just coming in to play on game day.
The coaching panel also questioned the team’s decision making on the ground and the players were challenged to pull their socks up for the remaining six rounds.
“I think the boys have a lot of skills development to go through, as you can see, we have a lot of young players straight out of high school, and we have just a few who are already playing at provincial level and are the driving force of the team,” strength and conditioning coach Savenaca Kaunisela stated.
The team was urged to play smart rugby and to be aware of their strength and weaknesses.
“One of the main focuses for us is to get the players to come and train. We had a lot of opportunities to execute to get more points but, the decision making was a bit poor today and it is one of the key areas that we must work on throughout the week,” Kaunisela said.
Kaunisela added that amateur level rugby is a challenge but they’re willing to put in the work for development and for the betterment of the players.
The team has been urged to change their mind-set and approach to the competition and to get their act together as the competition will only get tougher.
