INSYDOUT, a touch rugby team from Raiwaqa in Suva was one of the local teams participating in the opening day of competition for the Fijian Cup at Lawaqa Park in Suva yesterday.

Nelson Cokanasiga, the vice-captain of the side, spoke of the team’s progression coming into the tournament.

He recalled the side prepared for three weeks and also acknowledged the international exposure they gained in Lawaqa yesterday.

“The international exposure was another level,” the vice captain remarked.

“It was a different pace, it taught us where the game moved and the pace in which they play it overseas so it was a big learning curve for us.”

Although he acknowledged the side’s losses in their pool games yesterday, Cokanasiga remained optimistic of his team’s development and felt that more competitions were essential in needing to harness the team’s potential.

“Just more one day tournaments, it will be really good in preparation for more tournaments like this and more local teams.”

Noting the lack of local sides in the Fijian Cup which facilitated a touch rugby tournament of this kind, he hoped the number would change in the future.

He also thanked the team’s supporters for backing them into the tourney and stressed how important their support was in helping the team come into the competition.
