The Republic of Fiji Navy continues to receive crucial support from the Australian government in salvaging the RFNS Puamau with the recent arrival of specialised recovery equipment.

The vessel remains aground on the Fulaga reef.

According to an official update, this equipment, flown in from Australia on Friday, is expected to bolster ongoing recovery operations.

The Fiji Navy has expressed its gratitude to the Australian government and the Pacific Maritime Security Program for their steadfast assistance.

Emphasizing environmental protection, the RFN is dedicated to minimizing the impact of the defueling process and has implemented measures to prevent potential oil spills.

It was also confirmed Navy divers and engineers are actively monitoring the situation on scene.

The Fiji Navy also extended its appreciation to the Vanua of Fulaga and mariners transiting through the area for their support and patience during the critical operation.
