A trade unionist believes an improvement in the laws could enable fairer representation of tripartism on the existing Fiji National Provident Fund Board.
Unionist Sailesh Naidu told the public consultations on the review of the FNPF 2011 Act in Lautoka last week, the board should be represented by the employers, workers, the Government, and FNPF members.
“Currently, we have only one worker representation on the board, which is Mr Attar Singh,” Mr Naidu said.
“We thank the Government that there were some amendments made.
“And I believe we can make improvements in the law to say we can have a fairer representation, because the fund is based on the workers’ side and employers’ side, the total funds belong to the workers.
“So, the workers need to have a fairer say in terms of the operations and investments of the FNPF.”
