THE Nadera Panthers Rugby League Club received a significant boost, through a generous donation of jerseys and kits from former Fiji netball star Marj Parr.

Parr, a former player for the Fiji national netball team and the Sydney Swifts, currently resides in Wollongong, Australia.

During her visit to Fiji to coach the South Coast Blaze netball team for the Baby Pearls Invitational Tournament, she took the opportunity to give back to her maternal homeland.

“We brought the kits from Wollongong, donated by the Collegians Junior Rugby League Club, where my son plays,” Parr shared.

“We’re thrilled to see the uniforms being worn with pride by the young Panthers. Hopefully, this donation will inspire some of them to represent Fiji on a national level someday.”

Team Manager Maria Lynch also expressed her gratitude for the donation, stating, “We have a close relationship with the league club, and when they heard about our trip to Fiji, they generously offered the donation. It’s a special gesture to give back to a club like Nadera.”

Head Coach Vula Dakuitoga, a longstanding figure in the club, expressed his appreciation for the donation.

“We always give thanks to God for His blessings. This donation means a lot to us, and we’re truly grateful to everyone involved.”

The Nadera Panthers, founded in 1992, are among the most renowned rugby league clubs in Fiji. Under the leadership of Dakuitoga, a pioneer in the Fiji National Rugby League, the club fields teams ranging from Under 12s to Under 18s, as well as women’s and men’s premier sides.

This donation underscores the strength of community support and the importance of nurturing future sporting talents.

Meanwhile, the Vodafone Cup Eastern League competition has been shifted to next week, due to unavailability on grounds.
