NAKASI High School claimed the Boys Division title from the defending champion Lelean Memorial School at the 2026 Triple N Zone Athletics Meet.
NHS claimed 20 gold, 13 silver and five bronze medals while LMS finishes in second place with 14 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze medals. Sila Central High School in third place with seven gold, six silver and nine bronze medals.
Nakasi High School principal Praveen Chand shared his emotions reflecting on a journey that had tested every ounce of resilience the school possessed.
“I’m feeling so elated… so much relief,” Mr Chand said.
“There was pressure. This year, it wasn’t just one or two schools pushing us. There were many strong contenders. This has been one of the most competitive Triple N Zones we have ever seen.”
Indeed, the competition had gone right down to the wire. For two intense days, schools battled fiercely, with the medal tally shifting constantly.
When Nakasi High School was announced a winner, it marked not just a victory but a statement.
“It was not easy,” Mr Chand added. “But we are very proud that we made it.”
Mr Chand said the win has sharpened the school’s focus for what lies ahead.
“When your zone becomes this competitive, it prepares you better for the national stage,” the principal explained.
“I’m glad the bar has been raised. It shows that we have some of the best athletes right here, and we are ready to compete with the best in the country.”
What made the victory even more remarkable was the reality behind the scenes.
Nakasi High School is not known for having top-tier facilities
“We have limited resources and we don’t even have a proper ground,” he said. “But we told our students that the Nakasi spirit must prevail.”
Mr Chand recognize the collective effort behind the victory—the parents who supported the training camp, the teachers who sacrificed their time, and the coaches who shaped the athletes.
This was not Nakasi High School’s first taste of success. They had previously won the title and were runners-up last year, but this victory was a comeback for them
