The Digicel Fiji men’s under-23 football team kicked off their preparations for the 2023 OFC Olympic Qualifiers at the Fiji Football Association Academy in Ba on Monday.
The opening day of the camp was dedicated to fitness and medical testing for the players, led by newly-appointed strength and conditioning coach Noel Augustine.
The purpose of these assessments was to gauge the players’ current fitness levels and identify areas for improvement.
Head coach Rob Sherman also conducted a presentation session with the players, emphasising the importance of building a strong team culture and focusing on performing under a specific team module.
The emphasis on teamwork and strategy aims to enhance their overall performance in the upcoming qualifiers.
Currently, the camp houses a total of 33 players, but the squad will be trimmed tomorrow before releasing the players to their respective clubs for the Digicel Fiji Premier League games scheduled for this week.
This selection process ensures that the team gets to work with a dedicated and focused group for the Olympic Qualifiers.
With these preparations underway, the team is setting its sights on a successful campaign in the OFC Olympic Qualifiers.
