MALOLO hammered Nadroga under-23 side 52-8 to maintain its Vodafone Cup unbeaten run at Lawaqa Park yesterday.
Laced with some former Nadroga reps, the islanders ran riot and dominated all facets of the game to convincingly stamp their authority in the West Zone B division competition.
The win has also set the side on the right path in its quest to win the Vodafone Cup.
The side rested big names such as Jiuta Lutumailagi and Iliesa Ratuva but it failed to affect their performance.
Former national rep Aca Ratuva and Kini Salabogi showcased their experience and class in the forwards and provided the much needed motivation for their players that inspired them to dominate the game.
Malolo’s performance has sent a strong warning to other participating teams in the East and North.
Team manager Tevita Sadrata said the side had improved a lot compared with their last game.
He said the team had prepared well for the battle and was happy with the effort shown by his players.
“Like all other participating teams, our aim is to win the competition and join the heavyweights of Fiji Rugby in the main competition,” said Sadrata.
“The boys played well today and have shown a huge improvement from their last performances.
“I am glad that we are on the right track to fulfil our goal.”
Malolo earlier defeated Ba, Yasawa in their round robin games and will face either Rewa or Northern Bulls in the semi-final of the Vodafone Cup.
