NADI is preparing for another large influx of music lovers as UB40’s Big Love Tour lands at Prince Charles Park on January 30, part of the band’s 12-country world tour.

Nadi Town Council CEO Muni Gopal Reddy said the concert grounds had been handed over to organisers, with the stage taking shape and amenities in place.

Safety and security remain a top priority, he added, with police deployed to identified dark spots around the venue.

“Each year, we learn and improve on the services for big events like this. We have the capabilities to host these festivals and look forward to another successful concert,” Mr Reddy said.

Open spaces near the park have been made available for parking, with the council coordinating with the Fiji Roads Authority to ensure safe and secure access for attendees.

The event marks Nadi’s third-largest musical gathering in three years, highlighting the town’s growing reputation as a hub for international music festivals.

Local bands confirmed for return of reggae giants

LOCAL band Ouvacast has been confirmed as the opening act for the muchanticipated UB40 concert at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, this weekend.

Paradise Roots will also take the stage, with iconic New Zealand reggae band Katchafire completing
the lineup.

Lead singer Nicky Beddoes said the opportunity was a milestone for the group.

“To be opening, there’s a lot of pressure— it’s first impressions,” she said.

“We just hope to leave a good mark before we get off the stage, so it’s very important to us.”

Ms Beddoes highlighted the significance of UB40 returning to Fiji after more than a decade. “UB40 is not a band to take lightly.

Having them come back after over 10 years, and performing alongside a band we used to watch, is absolutely huge.”

The concert is expected to draw a massive crowd as the legendary reggae group makes its long-awaited return, promising an unforgettable night for music lovers.
