ELEVEN members of the Vodafone Fiji under-19 rugby league team are currently negotiating overseas contracts.
The team, coached by schoolteacher Meli Baledrokadroka recently returned from a tour in Australia where they won two of their three games.
And in the process 11 players in the party are likely to secure contracts, if negotiation all falls into its perfect puzzle.
Fiji National Rugby League operations manager Joeli Savou revealed the news yesterday.
“Yes 11 players from the Fiji U19 Bati team are currently negotiating their contracts,” he said.
“It’s all in the process.”
He said players might be given opportunities to feature in the Toyota Cup U20 competition if they impress during the trials.
“It looks like that all these players will be given three months trials. If they impress then they will be given opportunities to play at the Toyota Cup.
“It’s a big outcome for the tour. I believe it’s a success taking into account that 11 players are given contracts.”
Savou added there was a huge possibility of making the tour as an annual event in the future.
