Two Police Officers who were arrested last Friday for their alleged involvement in the unlawful possession of illicit drugs have been formally charged and are expected to appear in court tomorrow.
A liquid chemical seized during the arrest has tested positive for methamphetamine.
The charges have been sanctioned by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The two officers, a 43-year-old and a 31-year-old, have been jointly charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of Illicit Drugs under the Illicit Drugs Control Act.
The 31-year-old officer is also facing additional charges of Unlawful Importation of Illicit Drugs, also under the Illicit Drugs Control Act, and Possession of Properties Suspected of Being Proceeds of Crime under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Both men are currently in custody and will appear before the Suva Magistrates Court tomorrow.
