Minister for Sugar, Charan Jeath Singh, and Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Tomasi Tunabuna, are currently in India as part of a high-level delegation aimed at strengthening cooperation in agriculture, food processing, and the sugar industry.
Joining the ministers are Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) Chairman Nitya Reddy and Permanent Secretary for Sugar, Dr Vinesh Kumar.
Fiji’s High Commissioner to India, Jaganath Sami and High Commission staff from New Delhi are also part of the delegation.
During the visit, the Fijian delegation met with India’s Minister of Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan, who highlighted the positive engagement in a post on social media platform X.
“Delighted to interact with Hon. Tomasi Tunabuna, Minister for Agriculture & Waterways, and Hon. Charan Jeath Singh, Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs & Sugar Industry, Government of Fiji,” Paswan said.
“Exchanged views on strengthening collaboration in agri-value chains, food processing, and enhancing trade & investment ties.”
The discussions focused on opportunities to deepen cooperation across agricultural value chains, promote food processing capabilities, and expand trade and investment links between Fiji and India.
Charan Jeath Singh will depart as Sugar Minister on January 19th with Minister Tuinabuna taking on the portfolio.
