CONFIDENCE to step out and do business is usually a barrier to starting up a business.
But in the past 20 years, Pacific island countries have come up with boldness in the small and medium enterprises businesses.
Solomon Island’s Zai na Tina Organic Centre managing director Nanette Tutua said being bold was not easy but it was possible provided one had good backing and support to pursue business opportunities.
“You can only be bold if you have the capital and the know-how to start a business,” Mrs Tutua said.
As a woman, she said, it was not easy to be part of the male-dominated territory but it took boldness for women to rise to the challenge.
“As a woman, you participate better in the environment because men are more sympathetic and helpful towards you,” she said at the Holiday Inn in Suva yesterday.
She said this was one of the advantages of being a woman in a business environment.
