Justice Minister Siromi Turaga yesterday briefed Cabinet on the circumstances surrounding the viral video of acting Fiji Corrections Service commissioner Sevuloni Naucukidi.

The video showed Mr Naucukidi engaged in an altercation with another individual at a popular watering hole in Suva.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka told The Fiji Times that as investigations continue, the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) will be summoned if there’s a need to.

He said an internal investigation was presently underway and all materials relating to the investigation, including Mr Naucukidi’s report from the night of the incident, will be made available only to Mr Turaga.

“He can refer it to the COC, that’s when I’ll get the report,” he said

Meanwhile, Mr Rabuka said the suspension of constitutional officers pending investigation, was part of employment conditions and the COC “cannot go outside the law in those cases”.
