Tulo aims for top spot

TOP weightlifter Manueli Tulo is eyeing a top 15 finish in the 2015 International Weightlifting Federation World Championships in Houston, Texas in the US.

Tulo will be competing in the 56 kilogram category in the competition.

He said the training at the Pacific Institute in New Caledonia would help him in the qualifying rounds.

“I am confident of qualifying for the Olympic Games and will take the qualifying tournament normal,” he said.

“I am up to par with my training and our preparation is going really well.

“We have come here to spend a week training to prepare for the final lap for the qualifiers for the Olympic Games.”

The 25-year-old will be Fiji’s top bet along with Apolonia Vaivai to represent Fiji in the Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.

He said there would be stiff competition from other countries in the qualifiers. Tulo is here with 11 weightlifters from the institute in New Caledonia.
