Tui Macuata gives $10k to FNU Foundation

In an effort to assist disadvantaged students access vital support services, Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere has pledged $10,000 to support the Fiji National University Foundation.

Ratu Wiliame was the chief guest at the foundation’s launch at the Namaka Campus in Nadi on Wednesday.

“It would not sit well with me to launch such a commendable initiative as the FNU Foundation and not participate in this worthy cause myself,” he said.

“Therefore, I shall be investing $10,000 as a seed for the foundation with the hope that it will encourage others to join me in investing as well and that the financial support will grow.”

Ratu Wiliame said the tradition of solesolevaki of communities coming together to share resources and support one another, has been a cornerstone of the Pacific way of life.

“For generations, this spirit of collective giving at its very core ensured no one is left behind with the proverb, it takes a village to raise a child – every child is nurtured holistically, and every village or community is protected and thrives.”
