Assistant Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Sakiusa Tubuna said he made only one international trip between April 2023-April 2024 that cost the government $50,938.19.

This was to the 2024 UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

He said he attended a critical side event with the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), where he previously served as Sub-regional Coordinator for the Pacific.

“This meeting advanced discussions on the Fiji Blue Economy and Green Village Community Development Project, a US$25 million initiative nearing approval by IFAD,” said Mr Tubuna.

The project aims to boost incomes and market access for 3,000 households in Savusavu, Naweni, Wailevu East, Navatu, Koroalau, and Vaturova in Cakaudrove province.

He said Fiji Blue Economy focuses on green productivity, climate resilience, and market-led development, with implementation expected before year-end.

“I welcome public scrutiny, but facts must be presented in full, not selectively,” Tubuna stated.
