WELL into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling nameplate in automotive history.

And with good reason: This is the quintessential economy car. It’s small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and reliable.

During the launch of the 2014 11th generation Toyota Corolla at Asco Motors early this month the chief executive officer Jai Kumar said they were proud to bring another upgraded Toyota model into the Fiji market following their successful launch of the new RAV 4 and Yaris last year.

Mr Kumar said this reflected Toyota’s passion to meet and exceed their customer expectations and fulfil their dreams.

“It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the launch,” Mr Kumar said.

“We not only sell vehicles but also make sure we provide excellent after-sales support service to give our customers the comfort and peace of mind.”

Corolla was first introduced in 1966 and this is the 11th generation Corolla.

Mr Kumar said 40 million Corollas had been sold world-wide in the last 47 years and it had been the bestselling passenger car since 1974.

“The new Corolla has been engineered with stylish design with increased aerodynamics providing a smoother ride and more fuel efficiency.

“It comes with dual VVTi engine for optional performance and fuel economy.

“It has increased wheel base by 100mm which results in a larger interior space.

“The body has high tension steel materials for optimum safety.”

While Toyota is a global market leader and is a well-established brand the world over Mr Kumar said they would continue to provide the best to their customers.

“Toyota vehicle may be perceived as a high cost vehicle at the outset. However, it is cheaper over the total value of its life taking into consideration elements of running costs, resale value and other non-monetary benefits such as peace of mind, safety for you and your family, vehicle quality, durability and reliability,” he added.

Mr Kumar said Toyota brand has been in Fiji for over 60 years and over the years, it had proven to be trusted, durable, reliable and offers the highest resale value in Fiji.

“Over the decades we have continuously invested in human resources and facilities to provide the best services to customers.

He said over the past two years, the sale of new vehicles has improved by 40 per cent resulting in new brands and new players emerging in the market.
