BULA Football Club’s interim chief executive officer, Anushil Kumar has called on fans to trust the process as they begin their journey in the historic OFC Professional League which starts on Saturday.
With criticisms already arising, Kumar emphasised the importance of cheering and motivating the team in a constructive manner.
Acknowledging the high expectations from fans, Kumar encourages trust in the team’s process and asks for continued support.
“Definitely expectations from the fans are really high, but all I want to say is trust the process, keep supporting the boys, and keep us in your prayers,” said Kumar.
“We believe there is a lot of criticism already, but then all we want to say is that we do accept positive criticisms, cheering us motivating us in any way that is positive will really be appreciated.”
Kumar said they had to carry out indoor sessions to mentally prepare the players for what is to come both on and off the field.
“All the players are on social media, and when they see the posts, they really get mentally affected. We did have indoor sessions, to mentally prepare the boys as well, so all we need from the fans is good support.”
Support will be crucial especially when they are up against a Vanuatu United FC side that already looks good on paper.
Vanuatu despite their management crisis, boasts a number of senior players in the likes of former Melbourne Victory goalkeeper Matthew Acton who is a big overseas signing for the club between the sticks while New Zealand’s Otto Ingham and Owen Smith line up in attack.
There’s also a strong core of impressive local talent, including Alex Saniel and Azariah Soromon who are well familiar with our Fijian gladiators as they both played for Suva football in the past two years. They also headline Vanuatu United’s forward line.
The teams will clash at the famous Eden Park in Auckalnd, New Zealand at 2pm.
