Trough to bring showers and heavy falls to parts of Fiji

A trough of low pressure is affecting the Fiji group from the west and is expected to gradually spread southeast across the rest of the country.

According to the latest forecast, there will be cloudy periods with showers and isolated heavy falls are expected over Nadi–Lautoka–Ba, Tavua–Rakiraki, Tailevu North, Naitasiri–Ra, eastern Macuata and Cakaudrove provinces, as well as the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands.

The forecast warns that isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms, accompanied by heavy rainfall, may result in flash flooding in low-lying areas.

Showers are expected to gradually spread to the rest of the Fiji group later today.
