A trough of low pressure currently located to the northeast of Fiji is expected to move southwest towards the country later today, the Nadi Weather Office has confirmed in its latest weather bulletin today.

The system is forecast to begin affecting the northeastern parts of the Fiji group this evening, with rain bands extending to the eastern regions from tomorrow.

In its latest outlook for Sunday, the Weather Office says residents in the interior and eastern parts of Vanua Levu, including areas from Southern Bua and Yadua Island to Wailevu, Savusavu, Nakobo, Buca Bay, and Eastern Tunuloa, should prepare for occasional showers, isolated heavy falls, and possible thunderstorms.

Similar conditions are expected for Taveuni and nearby islands, as well as coastal areas stretching from Sigatoka to Korolevu, Serua, Namosi, Navua, Suva, and Nausori. The Ra and Rakiraki corridors, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, and Kadavu and surrounding smaller islands are also in the forecast path for unstable weather.

Elsewhere across the country, conditions are expected to remain generally fine, although isolated afternoon or evening showers may develop.
