A trough of low pressure to the west of Fiji is expected to bring cloudy conditions, showers and isolated heavy rainfall across parts of the country until tomorrow.
The Fiji Meteorological Service says a moist north to northeast wind flow is currently prevailing over the group, contributing to unsettled weather conditions.
“Associated cloud and showers are expected to affect some parts of the group till tomorrow,” the advisory stated.
Areas likely to be affected include Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Rakiraki, eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, as well as Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
Forecasters say occasional showers, including isolated heavy falls, are expected over these areas, with conditions expected to ease slightly from tomorrow.
“Showers easing to some showers from tomorrow,” the advisory said.
Elsewhere across the country, cloudy periods with some showers and afternoon or evening thunderstorms are expected.
The Met Office also warned that afternoon thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are likely over both Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.
Authorities are cautioning the public about the risk of flash flooding.
“Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low-lying areas,” the advisory warned.
People living in flood-prone areas are being advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as weather conditions continue to develop.
