EARLY exits prevailed in the Vanuatu United FC camp with their head coach and general manager stepping down from their roles just two days out of the historic opening OFC Pro League clash against Bula FC at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand.

GM Christian Happel and German coach Lars Hopp both indicated that their decision was driven by differing views on the club’s strategic direction.

“There are simply different opinions on how the future of the club should be managed and developed,” the pair said in a joint statement.

Their departure leaves a major leadership void before the league even starts.

Happel’s last working day is on January 23 while coach Hopp will leave the reigns three days later. He will accompany the team to the opening round in Auckland to ensure a strong and stable start.
