The forecasted tracks of the system

A tropical low system located near Vanuatu is being closely monitored as it has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.

The system is currently producing maximum sustained surface winds of about 35–45 kilometres per hour (20–25 knots).

Satellite imagery indicates that the low-level circulation is gradually consolidating, although convective activity remains fragmented, particularly along the system’s northern semicircle.

Meteorological analysis shows that environmental conditions are favourable for further development.

Forecast models are in agreement that the system will track generally eastward over the next 24 hours, while continuing to consolidate.

While immediate impacts on Fiji are not expected, the system is forecasted to move just West of the country this weekend.
